The Problem With Urban Sprawl Into Rural Fire Country

Whether through General Plan Amendments (Newland Sierra) or through annexation (Safari Highlands Ranch), we must STOP developers continuing to work around rules created to guide growth in safe, orderly and responsible ways – NOT urban sprawl into rural fire traps. On the heels of the Pasqual Fire last week, this article (How San Diego is waiving fire code in one of the county’s riskiest wildfire areas for an upzoned housing development) is particularly timely. We say: Enough is enough.
