As we mentioned earlier this week, the City of Escondido failed to properly notify more than one agency of the draft EIR for SHR when it was released in mid-October. Today the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that LAFCO was one of the agencies that was not notified of the DEIR release. LAFCO is the decision-making body that would approve or deny the requested annexation of the SHR property from the County of San Diego into the City of Escondido. The overlooked agencies were properly notified on November 20, 2017 and the comment period has been extended to January 2, 2018 as a result.
