Measure B Fails! Despite prolific TV commercials and signage throughout San Diego county, Measure B was solidly rejected by the San Diego County voters on November 8th, 2016. More than 735,000 voters (63%) made their voices heard by voting NO on Measure B – the Lilac Hills development initiative that was packaged as the solution to the affordable housing crisis in San Diego. This is the latest example of developers – targeting the undeveloped, far reaches of the county for urban sprawl – being successfully challenged by grassroots citizen groups demanding future growth follow General Plans, Smart Growth principles and long-established environmental review processes such as CEQA.
